Past Work - Touch Me

I recall making this sculpture in my room in Rutland Hall, at Nottingham University.  I probably made a right nuisance of myself, banging away day in, day out and I recall treading wood chippings all over the place.

Wooden sculpture made around 1965 by Peter Heywood

I couldn't get a big lump of wood so I bought a lot of 2-in by 2-in planed pine, sawed it up into bits and glued it together to make a big block.  There's four big cavities in it, somewhat resembling a heart.

I wanted to make the shapes voluptuous and the surface very smooth and polished, to encourage people to touch it.  The title, "touch me" was meant to be an invitation.
